Hello, I’m Charles Calvin, better known to some as Calvin Digital. I started this group back in late 2009. Back then, we were just Southeast Michigan Digital Photography Group. Since then, we have added a large film following and changed our name to incorporate it.
I’ve been into photography since 1995 when I was in junior high, taking a photography class and inspired by my Father who always seemed to have his Canon 35mm SLR with him. My early years in photography were primarily with point and shoot digital cameras. I didn’t get “serious” with photography until about 2008, when my Loving Wife & Father bestowed the gift of a Canon DSLR for my birthday. I haven’t looked back since.
I find shooting air shows most rewarding, coming from a family heavily into aviation. However, I also dabble in landscape, portrait, and macro photography. In attempt to turn my passion into coin, I have on occasion shot weddings, senior portraits, and events. Another aspect of photography I greatly enjoy, digital in particular, is working in post processing software such as Photoshop and PhotoMatix.
I have lived in Michigan since 2001, a California native; I have also lived in Arizona. I have a super supportive wife, Meghann, and a wonderful two year old daughter, Amelia. Today is Amelia’s 2nd Birthday. We are expecting our 2nd child soon; our due date is January 1st 2013.
