Hey everyone. My step-mom has asked me to take some photos of her with her brothers for my grandma as a Christmas gift. We're meeting this Sunday, around 10-11 am. I know the time of day isn't ideal, but it's the time that everyone has together. I was wondering if anyone knew of any really awesome locations that still has trees with some pretty leaves attached. They're coming from Westland, Wayne and Flatrock, so something that way would be awesome. We were thinking of going to Kensington, but it's a bit of a hike from there. Also, taking people photos is pretty new to me. I mostly take photos of my dog right now. lol Any tips on posing and things like that? Thanks in advance!

In the downriver area, try Lower Huron metropark or Lake Erie metropark, though, IMHO, Kensington is worth the drive for its wide range of photogenic locations. Posing tips: keep the group away from the background, put your step-mom in front with her brothers behind her, have them turn 30-45 degrees to you ( one shoulder towards you ), chins up, no hats (if possible), think about adding fill-light (flash or reflector). Hope this helps.
Good Luck! Eric

Elizabeth Park in Trenton is looking real good right now. I went out there Monday and the colors were beautiful. They also have great old bridges.

I agree...lower huron metro park is beautiful. You might also want to check out Heritage Park. Very simple but I have saw some wonderful pictures taken there.

Thanks for all of the advice! Any chance any of you have any pics of Lower Huron Metro Park or Elizabeth Park that I can show my step-mom before we make the drive out there? It's close for her brothers, but I'm in Farmington Hills. Thanks!

Just last Monday the colors inside the loop(if you look on google maps you'd understand) were bright red and orange. It looked great, just not much landscape wise for me to shoot
