With the filters and the in-app camera it's feeling like Flickr is trying to be Instagram.
Ugh...wrong direction. Too late even if it was the right direction with Instagram's popularity beginning to wane. IMHO, Flickr should be trying to be a competitor to 500px or Smugmug. The users on Flickr are more hobbyist/amateur/pro photogs, not the wannabe hipsters with a cameraphone.
Oh, Yahoo, why does everything you touch turn to poo?

Cause Yahoo is Poo! I was excited when I saw that. Opened up the app and was disappointed. Bah!

I played around with it some more once my kids took a nap and I do love the face that I can browse groups and add photos to group pools and what not now. I always hated going through the web for that. Also when I first loaded it up it was very very slow, now it's a lot better so it's warming on me. I change my status to I like it!

If Instagram is for wannabe hipsters, what do the hipsters use? It's really no surprise to me. They added editing functionality into it, and filters are pretty much expected features in any sort of mobile photo uploading and editing app. Doesn't mean you have to use them. I'm glad Yahoo is actually giving Flickr attention. Flickr has been stagnent for the last few years and needs to be worked on. Yahoo's problem is they buy companies and products and leave them to die. Flickr has been riding on its momentum, and it's been losing it. It needs to try to get people back using the service again some how.

There are nice features and, overall, I like the new app. I was just disappointed to see them trying to go after Instagram with this app. Maybe they are just doing that on the app side of things and the service overall will be more geared towards "serious" photography. I guess time will tell.
I'm with you on it being nice that Yahoo is finally giving Flickr some attention. It's still a great service with a dedicated community.
