I actually didn't know that of smugmug. I like that. I just like having access to back end systems. I'm a systems engineer first and a web guy second and I just feel comfortable working with and troubleshooting and backing up and just all around maintaining if I have access to everything. I don't like running into "you can't do that" kinda limitations.

I used to use zenfolio and then switched to SmugMug earlier this year because a good friend recommended it. However, I think once the year is up, I'm going back to Zenfolio. I liked it and was used to it. Which may be my point. Go with what is easy for you.

I just switched over to a blog site from a separate blog and flash portfolio site. I'm loving that everything is all together now. It's a wordpress blog hosted by my old flash site template company (bludomain). I create a password protected slideshow set to music for my clients to view their proofs. They can share this with their family and friends. Then I have a shopping cart that I also host. It's by Portfoliositez and is a stand alone cart system (so I don't have to have it on a Portfoliositez website). The back end of it can drive me nutty, but I like it overall. I've also heard good things about Photocart.
