Steve Ballmer has been in charge of Microsoft for nearly 13 years and he quits shortly after the launch of Windows 8? I wonder if we will find what that was all about. The stock market didn't care for it. Microsoft stock price dropped by over 3%. Update correction - it was Steven Sinofsky.. I shouldn't post when I should be in bed!! Thanks Daniel

It was not Ballmer who quit. It was Steven Sinofsky, President of the Windows and Windows Live Division who quit.

The rumor was that he wasn't a "team player" and there was "friction" between him and other MS Execs.
The extended rumor was he wanted MS to say Ballmers job was his when Ballmer does leave and MS wouldn't do that.
