I'm not sure how many of you look at the Flickr blog, but they usually have some interesting stuff. Today's was even more interesting considering our affinity here in the Mitten State for lighthouses, and features the St. Joseph North lighthouse. blog.flickr.net/en/2012/11/01/lighthouses-vs-waves/

It really is amazing how some of the really old ones are still in pretty good shape considering the beating they take

Michigan has the most lighthouses of any state. I have photos of about 40 which is only a third of the total.

I have a new found interest in the Lighthouses on the west side after a couple trips to GrandHaven. Here's a thought-since water is obviously a part of the scene-any creative ideas about how to get a shot/angle/view that 5 million other people did NOT get from standing on a main walkway leading to the light house? Short of finding a yacht to cruise on , kayak view or paddleboard view , any other suggestions? BTW-have a HUGE interest in surf photography.

Ladydi, short of taking a kayak or commandeering a yacht, I would look for "off the beaten path" areas that you might be able to get a shot from. Some places this may not be kosher, so watch out for the po-po.
