Awesome!! I'm not a star watcher or anything so when I take a shot and see stars in them I like to look around to see if there are any constellations. Makes the photo more exciting.

I took this just after the last 3 photos in this thread. I caught the northern lights just after the last bit of light disappeared off the horizon. These are actually quite dull compared to what happened about 20 minutes later. They were at this intensity for about 40 minutes. I took a couple shots of it and after quite a while of no change i put my camera away so i could relax and just take it in.. As soon as i had everything packed up and laid back down on the rocks, the northern lights just blew up and lit up the night sky almost like daylight. There were literally shadows cast from them. It was easily twice as intense as what you see here. It lasted bright for about 10-15 seconds and then the northern lights were gone. Show over. At least I got to witness it.

It's about time you added more images to this. I was beginning to think these were the only shots you had gotten.
Too bad about the Northern Lights, at least you got to enjoy them. The 2 times I've "seen" them my camera saw them and I just stood out in the cold wondering if they were going show up.

Yeah, It was a super busy week for me last week so I had NO time. Here's the Point Iroquois Lighthouse near Sault Ste Marie. I took these the 1st night I was out too. None of these I'm really thrilled about because the light in the tower doesn't work and also a few technical issues I have with them. They are not portfolio pieces but I wanted to post them anyway to show you where I went. This first pic was really the one I wanted when I planned this destination but I blew it because I shot it too early before the full moon was in the right position which made it quite a bit darker in the foreground than I envisioned. I really wanted that boardwalk lit up. It was just too low in the east yet. Also, I had a hell of a time focusing because it was so dark. It's slightly out of focus. I asked the lighthouse keeper if she minded turning on some of the outside lights for me. She was more than happy to. This is the one i'm not really happy with the composition... I could have moved slightly to the right which would have pulled the lighthouse away from the corner of the rock wall a little more. I also used a 2 stop grad nd on this one. The light from the parking lot street lamp was so bright that the rock wall and rest of the foreground was a couple stops brighter than the rest of the scene. I used it upside down lol. Worked though. *Notice the satellite blinking across the sky from the long exposure? Rather basic and blah on the composition. Would have been nice if I shot it a little earlier when there was still a very slight glow in the sky just above the treeline. Again, it's disappointing the light in the tower doesnt work.

2 things 1) I love the pics, that is one of the more interesting rock formations I've seen in a river. I so want to make it up there one of these days.
2) what is up with "ChickenFreid"

2) what is up with "ChickenFreid" 1) thnx. It's an amazing stretch of river. 2)My bad, I spelled it wrong. Meant "fried". I'll change it. Everybody seems to have little nicknames in their usernames and I was beginning to feel left out. It was a tough decision. Chicken fried or cheese fried.... They both have a good ring to it. Chili was already taken

I like the first pic! Always been a fan of "S" curves in photos. I look for them, don't always find them.

Wow Thnx Alfer! I really dont know what to say to that Dan, I didnt even notice the S until you mentioned it. It just looked good to me so i set ti up lol. Same day as the last set... still just crappy low quality scans. In order Trail to Overlooked Falls and Greenstone Falls in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park north of Ironwood. Next 2 photos are of Overlooked Falls. The water was WAY down this year. Usually it's runs pretty strong... At least the previous 2 years have. The next 2 pics are Greenstone Falls just a little further down stream. Next time I dont think i'll be including the rock... Kind of distracting to me now. On the way back is when i sprained my ankle lol.
